Sam and Isaac Walton were our Pig Issue 2013 competition winner. They devised a Pork Picnic recipe and their presentation took place when we visited their school Westhead Lathom St James Primary school, Lancashire last Thursday. We took "Rosie" our mobile kitchen and talked to the whole school about where our food comes from and British pig farming. We gave a cookery demonstration with some help from Sam and Issac and then the pupils tasted the Pork Chilli nachos that we had cooked and honey/ tarragon sausages. They then all got to have a look at our new kitchen that was sponsored by Bpex. We sent them home with our new Pig Issue 2014 and our family Favourites recipe book. Well done Sam and Isaac.
Tens of thousands of people turned out to enjoy this years South of England show which was held over three days Thurs 5th, Friday 6th and Sat 7th June. The show was opened by Princess Anne. Ladies in pigs were demonstrating their recipes in the mobile kitchen near to the Pig Village. Thanks must go to the stewards and organisers in the Pig Village for making us feel so welcome We were delighted when the judges gave the Lips team 3rd prize for the best feature /display in the Agricultural stand.
After a wet drive down to the Suffolk show we arrived and set up on the new farm discovery zone which was a wonderful area to educate about food and farming. Well done to Bruce Kerr and James Bielby for all their help. We cooked all the recipes from our new Family Favourite Leaflet over the two days and gave out over 2000 tasters. The highlight of the two days was being part of the mascots race in the Presidents Ring on the Wednesday evening. Over 20 mascots took place over an assault course and our Beautiful British banger came 3rd overall.
