The Saturday was a wonderfully hot day that was started with a Pork Recipe Demo by Rita and Lizzy in the Cookhouse. Charlie and Flynn were two of the biggest fans of the demo and we had a surprise visit by Jimmy himself. We were also thrilled to see that there were festival goers who were as big a fans of sausages as the LIP’s ladies, the Sausage eating competition was full for both days before the gates had even opened.
The pork recipes gained some firm fans with one particularly impressed individual asking if Rita could go home with him to cook on a permanent basis. The LIPS recipe book was the “best purchase of the weekend” for two other fans. However, the most exciting and glowing endorsement of the day came from Gennaro Contaldo, himself, he loved the Bacon and Lentil soup that Lucy had made. She didn’t stop smiling all afternoon after his compliments.
Thankfully Sunday was a cooler day although equally as busy. Yet again the recipes we extremely well received and the recipe leaflets were flying off the shelves. The Essex Chapter bikers are regulars at the festival and couldn’t get enough of the Pork Lasagne and Thai Green Curry although some of the four legged visitors were particularly keen to sample the sausages we were using from Jimmy’s farm shop. One of the highlights from Sundays entertainment was DJ BBQ, who cooks up a storm as he spins some beats on his decks. It was great to see so many people who were fans of pork and wanted to support British Farmers by looking for the red tractor! We would like to say a massive thank you to Jimmy for having us at his festival and taking the time to come see us. We hope to see you all again next year at the next Jimmy’s Sausage and Beer festival.
