Welcome to our brand new website that has been developed as part of our rebrand for 2021!

This news page will be available to keep you up to date with developments and is an opportunity for us to share our news with you.

First of all, who are Ladies in Pigs and what do we do.

We are an organisation that work in or are passionate about the British pig industry and the amazing pork and pork products that are produced here by the dedicated farmers of this country.

We were formed back in 1991 by a group of farmers wives who were frustrated by how many people knew about British pork.

From those humble beginnings where the ladies would cook on stoves on tables to demonstrate the versatility of pork! To now when we have our custom built “5 rated” kitchen on wheels who we lovingly call “Rosie” (see right).

WOW, IT’S CHRISTMAS!

What a year 2020 has been for us all! Our thoughts are with all of those who have lost loved ones this year and to those who are key workers and have been working in different areas all over the country to keep things going – whether it be our amazing NHS workers and other emergency services who are keeping us all safe; the supermarket workers that are keeping the shelves stocked with everything we need; or the farmers up and down the country who are working hard to produce the best food for our tables!  Mental health is and has been a major issue for everyone and we are proud to be supporting RABI (a farming charity) to support those associated with the food and farming industry.

We have taken delivery of a smartboard to enable us to deliver amazing resources for school and college students, and to enhance the experience at shows and events for visitors across the country.

This also allows us to be post covid-19 safe with the games that are now interactive rather than a giant wooden jigsaw!

“We would never have wished COVID on anyone, but the time in lockdown has been invaluable in giving us the opportunity to evolve as an organisation” says Chairwoman, Debbie Wilson.

In the new year, Ladies in Pigs will be celebrating the start of their 30th year in business with some exciting news and developments, so we hope you will have a look at our website and social media pages to see what we have been doing!

WHAT ARE WE ALL ABOUT!

As we reflect on what would have been the end of another busy events calendar, it is with some sadness that we have been unable to support the many shows and schools that were booked in for the 2020 rota.  Ultimately, we needed to ensure that everyone was as safe as possible and be positive about going forward.  In this first issue of our news bulletin for the website, we are introducing you to the work we do.

Look out for us on our social media pages for inspirational recipes that are all delicious and easy to prepare and cook.  There are even child friendly Instagram videos of their recipes!  You are never too young to learn how to cook!

We are also on YouTube!  Search for Rosie Kitchen or Ladies in Pigs and you will see our 2020 recipe collection.

The Latest News

During lockdown, the team at Ladies in Pigs have been busy finding ways to still be involved in education and promotion of the brilliant Red Tractor Farmers.

We have been involved in virtual versions of country shows across the county and have provided interactive and downloadable resources for children to do during the lockdown period.  These include Hertfordshire Show, Lincolnshire Show, Great Yorkshire Show, East of England food and farming schools day – to name but a few.  Some of the resources used may still be accessible via the show websites.

We have also been developing our education programme to embrace students aged from 11-18 as they are becoming more and more able to make choices about food they eat and are aware of the need to be sustainable!   For anyone who thinks they might want to join us as a paid volunteer, have a look at our Join Us page or use the Contact Us page to ask about what it involves.
